TVS Motor profit rises 31% on higher sales

Q4 exports rise 45.3% to 1.61 lakh units

TVS Motor Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of two and three-wheelers, has reported 30.6% growth in its standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2018 to ₹165.61 crore from ₹126.77 crore registered during the year-earlier period on higher sales volume.

Revenue from operations for the quarter under review rose 28% to ₹4,017 crore against ₹3,139 crore.

From January to April 2018, sales grew 31.7% from 6.75 lakh units to 8.89 lakh units. Motorcycle sales rose 61.1% from 2.15 lakh units to 3.46 lakh units and scooter sales 25.5% from 2.23 lakh units to 2.80 lakh units. Three-wheeler sales grew 90.7% from 15,000 units to 29,000 units, according to a company statement.

Total exports increased 45.3% from 1.11 lakh units to 1.61 lakh units.

Interim dividend

As the company had already paid two interim dividends for 2017-18 amounting to ₹3.30 per share (330%), the board did not recommend any further dividend for the year under consideration, the statement further said.

During the year under review, the company strengthened its presence in the motorcycle and scooter segments with roll out of TVS Apache RR 310, TVS NTORQ 125 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and refreshed product portfolio, the statement added.
