Tata Motors unveils Tiago NRG

Tata Motors has introduced an upgraded version of Tiago, its best selling hatchback, to attract buyers in the festive season. Called Tiago NRG (to be spelt energy), the model has been developed on customers’ feedback and sports some SUV-like features.

Powered by the 1.2L Revotron petrol engine and the 1.05L Revotorq diesel engine, the Tiago NRG will be available with 5-speed manual transmission. It will come in three color options and is priced at ₹5.49 lakh for the petrol version and ₹6.31 lakh for the diesel version, ex-showroom Delhi.

Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors said, “With this introduction, we are extending the Tiago brand and increasing our presence by entering into newer segments and tapping new sets of buyers.

“This introduction is a step towards our Turnaround 2.0 journey, as we continue to focus on ‘winning sustainably’ in the passenger vehicle business.

“We are confident that our customers will appreciate the Tiago NRG just like the Tiago hatchback,” he said.

Last month, the company had sold 9,300 units of Tiago indicating its popularity by first time car buyers.

Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicles business unit, Tata Motors said that the company had plans to unveil four upgrades of other models in the next eight weeks. He said that the company would introduce a new car called Tata Harrier in the last part of this financial year. Harrier is developed on the Discovery platform of Jaguar & Land Rover.
