Sterling Generators, an arm of Sterling and Wilson Ltd., an engineering, procurement and construction solutions provider in infrastructure and energy, plans to expand overseas to double revenue in four to five years, a top official said.

“Our major emphasis now is getting into exports,” said Sanjay Jadhav, CEO, Powergen Business, Sterling and Wilson.

“In the next three to four years, we are planning to have 50% of our revenue from exports from 25 to 30% now. That is where our business is more structured,” he said. Currently, the company is exporting to Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. It wants to concentrate on these markets and also expand.

Potential markets

“We have identified potential markets such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia. We clearly know which are the markets we want to grow, where the potential exists and we are scaling up our operations there,” he added.

“We should be able to double our turnover over the next 4 to 5 years. We are looking at growing almost double the market growth. This year our growth will be 25-30% and if we are able to maintain that momentum, we will achieve our target,” he said.

“We are not depending on the Indian market which fluctuates frequently,” he said.

In India, the demand will come from the defence sector, mainly from border areas, where lot of investment had been lined up.

The firm, which specialises in large horse power (LHP) diesel generators in the range of 750 HP to 3,500 HP, has entered into the medium HP (MHP) generator sets which are in the range of 250 HP to 650 HP, to broad base its product offering.
