The spice industry will take steps to improve quality jointly with the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) in order to live up to the challenges posed by the international trade.
The announcement was made by Spices Board Chairman A. Jaythilak in Pune at the end of the 11th World Spices Congress on Monday, said a release here.
He said that the efforts would start with spice growers and the launch of spice producer companies is an indication of the Board's intentions.
The release said that the USFDA India director Bruce Ross promised support to quality improvement initiatives on the lines of the support extended to Bangladesh for aquaculture.
