In the backdrop of controversy around Maggi noodles, Reliance Retail Ltd., on Frjday, said it was temporarily withdrawing all brands of instant noodles from its stores across India. The company runs 2,621 stores across 200 towns in the country.
“These have been returned to the distribution centres and labeled as ‘Not For Sale’. Designated Food Safety Officers have been informed of the action, said a company statement.
The decision has been taken based on three basic commitments: health and well-being of customers and our unflinching commitment to stock only products of the highest assurance; enlightened interest of our 11 partner companies whose products we stock and to remain in full compliance of legal and regulatory processes across the country irrespective of individual jurisdictions.
