PhonePe buys Zopper Retail

Flipkart-owned digital payments start-up PhonePe said it has acquired Zopper Retail, a hyper local point-of-sale platform for small and medium businesses. As a part of the acquisition, Neeraj Jain, founder-CEO, Zopper will join PhonePe team as head of product, offline merchant solutions.

PhonePe said combining its payments with some of the capabilities that Zopper Retail offers as value added services would greatly enhance the adoption of digital payments.

“We are excited leveraging their domain expertise to rapidly expand our offline merchant network,” said Sameer Nigam, CEO, PhonePe, in a statement.
