Panasonic, RCOM launch cloud-based video surveillance service

January 23, 2015 05:03 pm | Updated 05:03 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Panasonic India and Reliance Communications Ltd (RCOM) have jointly launched a cloud based video surveillance service for enterprises in India. This service is designed to bring advanced surveillance backed by analytics within the easy reach of enterprises at a monthly rental starting Rs 900 per connection (one router which can cater to one to four cameras).

Enterprises need to buy surveillance cameras starting below Rs 10,000 from Panasonic and those already having cameras need to only go for the cloud-based service.

The Enterprises Business arm of RCOM which will provide the country wide bandwidth and data centre infrastructure for Panasonic’s surveillance cameras and video analytics, will take the solution to the market.

Initially the partners will target four sectors including retail, healthcare, education and banking & finance which face significant challenges to secure their assets and humans at their premises. The round the clock video footage can be accessed on personal computers and mobile devices.

“We aim to capture 20 per cent share of the Enterprise security surveillance market in India by 2017. This launch will enhance our security business as we will offer video analytics in combination with real time surveillance,” said Manish Sharma, MD, Panasonic India.

“Not only does the service address challenges of security management for distributed enterprises and government agencies, its advanced analytics features place actionable data within easy reach of customers, we are confident that this first of its kind solution will be widely adopted in India,” said Deepak Khanna, CEO, India Enterprise, RCOM.

In two years RCOM plans to generate revenue of Rs 200 crore from this service and by this time the partners will have 90,000 surveillance cameras installed across India.

The service offers easy scheduling, managing IP cameras in the cloud and advanced cloud video analytics like human detection and tripwire.
