NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) of Japan has announced plans to acquire a unified licence for national long-distance services (NLD) through its Indian subsidiary to provide domestic network services by the end of this year.
For this purpose, the company has decided to set up a new company — NTT Communications India Network Services Private Ltd. — which will be established in May. Last year, group company NTT DOCOMO had decided to pull out of India by ending its joint venture with the Tata group. NTT Com is the ICT (Information, communication and technology) solutions and international communication business within the NTT group. After obtaining a unified licence, NTT Com plans to provide a range of network services sought by enterprises that are expanding in India. “Specific offerings will include secure, high-quality private network services such as IP-VPN connecting data centres or the cloud to the domestic sales or production bases of customers,” the company said.
“By obtaining a unified licence, the NTT Com group will be permitted to offer total ICT solutions to enterprises in India,” it added.
On Tuesday, NTT Com said its wholly-owned subsidiary NTT Communications India Private Ltd. (NTT Com India) will establish a branch office in Ahmedabad to offer ICT solutions starting June. The Gujarat branch office will be NTT Com India’s sixth office, followed by Gurgaon, Neemrana (Rajasthan), Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.
At present, NTT Com India is providing system integration services. Another NTT Com group company Netmagic Solutions Private Ltd. is offering data centre and cloud services with its eight data centres in India.
NTT Com believes that renewed economic activity in India would create demand for high-quality ICT solutions from domestic and multinational companies. Going forward, NTT Com said it would steadily expand its ICT business infrastructure in India to help customers further grow their business.
