Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., which runs pathology labs in seven countries, including in India, will invest Rs.150 crore in expanding its operations and tap the African market potential, according to a top company official.

“By 2020, we have plans to invest Rs.150 crore without acquisitions. The investment will be in network expansion and procurement of technology. The variety of tests we conduct will go up to 5,000 from 4,500 and this would require new equipment,” Ameera Shah, Managing Director, Metropolis Healthcare Ltd. told The Hindu.

The company is keen to expand across Africa where healthcare facilities are lacking.

“We are planning to enter Uganda. We will be in three more countries in Africa this year.

“My goal is to sow the seeds and have the first mover advantage for building a chain of labs across Africa,” she said.
