‘Given ultimatum till Friday to pay up’

Flights of the cash-strapped Jet Airways scheduled for departure from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed on Thursday over a payment issue with the airline’s fuel provider, according to sources.

A few flights couldn’t take off from IGI for at least an hour, according to industry sources.

“There might have been an issue earlier in the day, but supplies are on now,” said an official of the Indian Oil Corporation.

According to another source, the airline was given an ultimatum till 11 a.m. on Friday to clear its dues.

All this happened on a day when a consortium of banks as well as the top brass of Jet Airways held a meeting on the airline’s resolution plan.
