Bengaluru-based Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd., (BFW) has drawn up a three-pronged strategy to join the league of top 20 global machine tools manufacturers.
As part of this strategy, the Kothari-group company is planning to increase its sales in the domestic market besides entering the export market in a big way and widening its product offerings.
Talking to The Hindu , BFW Chief Executive Officer Ravi Raghavan said: “Now we are ranked at 54 out of 250 firms worldwide. In the next three years, we want to be ranked among the top 20 firms, and have initiated more steps in this direction. We would like to grow our businessthrough synergic acquisitions and value added products.” At present, 57 per cent of the country’s machine tools sector requirements are met through imports. To strengthen the Prime Minister’s Make-in-India campaign, BFW would be launching five models on a new platform, catering to automobile as well as auto components, dye as well as mould, government and defence sectors.
Compared to the previous models, these machines would have better features and longer life-span, he said.
“We are on the threshold of ushering in a major transition from being a traditional machine tool manufacturer to becoming a NextGen solution provider. We offer solutions and not just a machine to our customers. BFW2.0 is all about infusing fresh talent, a refreshingly new approach to all stakeholders with more thrust of R&D innovation and enhanced technology,” he said
Annually, BFW produces 1,200 machines. About 400 new models get added to the fleet. All these measures would take BFW to the next league, he said.
Regarding exports, he said, “Now we are present in Germany and France, and would soon be entering SE Asian countries. Plans are on to increase export revenue by four-fold in two years.”
