AVA Group, which markets Medimix soap in the Southern States, is planning to expand its footprint by entering neighbouring States and the overseas market.
“Our products and services are available in South India. These include Medimix soap, Sanjeevanam restaurant in Chennai, and Melam ready-to-cook masala products, which are available in Kerala,” said A.V. Anoop, managing director, AVA Cholayil Health Care Pvt. Ltd. “Going forward, we will take the Sanjeevanam brand to Kerala and Melam masala products and breakfast items to countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.”
According to him, Sanjeevanam is a holistic healthcare service centre, integrating the principles of ayurveda, naturopathy and yoga. The ₹250-crore AVA Group will be opening its first 70-bed ayurveda hospital at Kakkanad near Kochi by mid-April.
Currently, the Sanjeevanam portfolio consists of a vegetarian restaurant in Chennai and an ayurvedic therapy and natural beauty centre.
About the planned ayurveda hospital, Mr. Anoop said, “It will be a modern hospital replete with allopathy and common diagnostics facilities offering treatment in a traditional way. The motto is to promote the most ancient and efficient way of medication to society. If it becomes a successful model, after two years we might open a Sanjeevanam resort, wherein we will combine wellness with medical tourism.”
On Melam food products, he said these were generating sales of ₹30 crore and the aim was to touch ₹100 crore in two years.
“Right now, our target is Keralites staying abroad. We have already opened an international office in Dubai and we have good sales. We have a strong brand and our idea is to strengthen it through new offerings,” he said.
“Next year, we will be celebrating 50 years of Medimix. Currently, we have six production units in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Bengaluru. AVA Group produces and markets Medimix soaps in the five Southern states and Puducherry,” Mr. Anoop said.
The company is operating in single shift, producing 750 tonnes of soap per month. We have a market share of 4% and are growing at 10% year-on-year. Our vision is to achieve a ₹500-crore sales volume by 2020,” he added.
