Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday convened an unofficial meeting at his residence on the way ahead for Air India.

Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, R.N. Choubey told reporters that the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) will issue a statement on the decision taken in the meeting.

The last day for submission of expression of interest for privatisation of Air India was May 31. However, the government did not receive any response from private players for the stake sale, dealing a blow to it’s plan to revive the debt-laden national carrier.

Mr. Jaitley, who underwent a kidney transplant recently, held the meeting via video conference at his residence.
