Apollo Hospitals Q4 profit jumps 24%

Higher income spurs net to ₹59.64 cr.

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. has reported a 23.83% increase in its standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2018, at ₹59.64 crore from ₹48.16 crore due to higher income from healthcare services and pharmacy operations.

During the period under review, total income rose to ₹1,868.76 crore from ₹1,633.63 crore, marking an increase of 14.39%.

The fourth quarter witnessed a robust contribution to growth from new hospitals especially those at Navi Mumbai, Malleswaram, Tiruchi, Visakhapatnam, Nashik and Nellore. The focus was to now continue to build on this momentum into the next fiscal, especially on the new hospitals, the company said in a statement.

During the fiscal, Apollo Hospitals witnessed an across-the-board increase in patient volumes. Overall occupancy across the group was at 65%. The occupancy in mature hospitals was at 67%, while new hospitals had occupancy at 58%, the statement said.

The Board recommended a dividend of ₹5 per share (100% of face value of ₹5 per share). In fiscal year 2018, Apollo Hospitals added 475 standalone pharmacies and closed 10 stores for a net addition of 465 stores. The total network as of March stood at 3,021 operational stores. Revenue increased by 17% to ₹3,269 crore, from ₹2,785 crore.
