The Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (Economic Offences Wing), on Monday, arrested Amway India Enterprises Chief Executive Officer and Chairman William Scott Pinckney and two directors of the network marketing company on charges of financial irregularities and cheating.
A team of officials, led by Superintendent of Police P. A. Valsan arrested Mr. Pinckney, a U.S. citizen, and Amway India directors Sanjay Malhotra and Anshu Budhraja in connection with three multi-layered fraud cases registered in Wayanad district. They were booked under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act.
All the accused had got anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court in an earlier case registered on a complaint filed by K. Vishalakshi of Kozhikode. But now they were arrested based on complaints filed by Jaffer and Ashraf from Rippon and Hariharan from Vaduvanchal, Ambalavayal in 2011, police sources said.
They were summoned for questioning in connection with the cases and later arrested. . Meanwhile, the company, in a press release, said, “Amway has submitted all information and documents that have been requested by the police officials. We are cooperating with the police for any further investigation.”
