Alcatel One Touch, on Thursday, unveiled its newest smartphone Idol X+ for the Indian market in an exclusive partnership with the country’s largest e-commerce portal, Flipkart. The device is priced at Rs.16,990, and comes bundled with a wearable smartband.
Alcatel is the second handset maker after the U.S.-based Motorola to tie up with Flipkart for sale of its handsets. Alcatel, which already sells some devices through the offline route, expects sales from online channel to contribute about 15 per cent of its revenues this year.
“We work with operators like Idea and Vodafone, and have successful partnerships with them … while we continue to grow the operator business, we are also bullish on e-commerce route to reach out to consumers,” Alcatel One Touch Regional Director, APAC, Praveen Valecha, said. About 15 per cent of the company’s revenues in India would come from e-commerce this year, he added.
The Idol X+ will be available from June 3 onwards. The Android Jellybean OS-powered device features a five-inch touchscreen, octa-core 2 GHz processor and 13.1 MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and a 2,500 mAh battery. The box will also include a Health Boomband (smartband) and JBL headphones.
“In the next four months, we will launch five smartphones and two feature phones,” he said.
