The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Saturday said it is temporarily suspending production at its two manufacturing facilities in Gurgaon and Manesar in Haryana as supplies of certain components has been hit by ongoing quota agitation of Jats.
“Owing to the agitation in Rohtak and nearby areas, supplies of certain components have been disrupted. As a consequence, the Company has had to temporarily suspend manufacture of cars at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon, starting Saturday (February 20) second half,” the company said in a statement.
The combined output from Manesar and Gurgaon is currently about 5,000 vehicles per day. There is no clarity on resuming production, which depends on component supply.
The company said it was making efforts to arrange the components from other sources. “Once the supply of components is restored, normal operations will resume,” it added.
