The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) on Thursday unveiled its ‘Ashok Alliance’ scheme where member hotels would be able to add Ashok to their names. To begin it, ITDC has tied up with Hotel Welcome City Beautiful in Chandigarh and Riverfront Hotel in Surat. These two hotels will now become a part of the Alliance scheme while retaining individual identity and ownership.
Addressing a press conference here, ITDC Vice-President (Corporate Marketing and Human Resource Development) Kuldip Verma said the corporation was planning to bring up to 35 hotels under the Ashok brand by the end of 2010 as part of its new franchise division.
“We are in talks with a number of real estate players and hoteliers to bring more hotels under the scheme. Under the scheme, member hotels can benefit from the operational management expertise, marketing inputs and other resources of the ITDC group,” he said. Underlining that ITDC would be working under the revenue sharing model with the member hotels, Mr. Verma said that through this initiative, the corporation aimed to fill the gap of their hotels across India. As part of the arrangement, ITDC would be getting three per cent of the gross room revenue.
