Tata Motors CV head Ravindra Pisharody quits

In a sudden move Ravindra Pisharody, executive director (ED) commercial vehicles, Tata Motors has submitted his resignation on personal reasons, Tata Motors said in a filing with the stock exchanges.

Mr. Pisharody has been heading the commercial vehicles business for 5 years. What prompted his sudden exit from the company could not be ascertained immediately. Analysts said this could be due to falling marketshare of the heavy commercial vehicle division, which contribute most to the top and bottomlines. His resignation comes at a time when Tata Motors has become aggressive to grow its business through a multi pronged strategy. He has also resigned as director of the company as well as associate companies, Tata Motors said. The soft spoken Mr Pisharody had joined Tata Motors in 2007 as a Vice President (sales & marketing)

The company has also announced the appointment of Satish Borwankar as Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect. “His tenure of executive directorship would be extended for a period of two years from July 2017, subject to shareholders approval,” Tata Motors said. Mr. Borwankar has been heading the quality division of the company.
