In continuation of an economic exercise started last year for direct interaction with States, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is slated to hold a meeting with western and central region State Chief Ministers and chief executives of public sector banks in Mumbai on September 17 to review problems pertaining to credit offtake and flow of funds to the farm sector.

The meeting, being convened a day after the RBI's quarterly monetary and credit policy review on September 16 in the wake of an uncertain environment of high inflation and economic slowdown, is likely to discuss, among other issues, the progress of centrally-sponsored schemes.
