BHEL bags ICWAI National Award

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi, bagged the ICWAI (Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India) National Award for good performance in Cost Management for the year 2009 in the Public-Manufacturing-Large Organisation category.

Salman Khurshid, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, presented the award at a function held in New Delhi recently. B. P. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL, and T. Jambunathan, General Manager (Finance), BHEL, Tiruchi, jointly received the award.

An independent jury headed by the former Chief Justice of India J. S. Verma unanimously selected BHEL . BHEL has been conferred with the maximum number of seven of these prestigious awards among public and private sector companies.

BHEL has been awarded the recognition for the fifth time in a row.

The award was instituted by the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India in 2003 and is presented to corporate entities towards their excellence in cost management, quality and delivery.

BHEL's Electronics Division and Electroporcelains Division, Bangalore, Jhansi, Haridwar, and Ranipet also received awards in various categories
