BEL to set up new plant at Nimmakuru in A.P.

The Bharat Electronics Limited will set up a Rs.250-crore plant at Nimmakuru in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh to make IR seekers, night vision devices and thermal imaging cameras.

The plant will be operational in three years. This will be the second manufacturing facility of BEL after Machilipatnam.

The turnover at Machilipatnam was between Rs.400 crore and Rs.500 crore and that of the proposed new plant will much higher, said S.K. Sharma, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of BEL. He told The Hindu on the sidelines of a national conference on `Advances in Sensors: Lab to field'.
