Ashok Leyland posts higher net profit

Ashok Leyland has reported a higher net profit of Rs. 88.61 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, against Rs. 67.24 crore in the same period in the previous year. Net sales were lower at Rs. 1,577.68 crore against Rs. 1,870.47 crore. With reduction in expenditure to Rs. 1,462.22 crore from Rs. 1,776.72 crore, the profit from operations, before other income, has increased to Rs. 115.47 crore from Rs. 93.76 crore. Other income was lower at Rs. 5.55 crore against Rs. 23.79 crore.
