Wearing your gem jewellery right

Let’s face it, gemstones are jewellery staples that are never going out of fashion! Perhaps the most versatile of jewellery options, gemstones can be used to accessorize any look no matter what the occasion is. Such is the popularity of precious stones that the money spinning behemoth of Marvel movies is entirely based on the quest for a bunch of really precious stones. Of course, these are some really powerful stones you can’t wear, but for the ones you can wear here’s how to get your gemstone jewellery game right!

1. Work it, pearl it!

From Audrey Hepburn teaming a broad pearl necklace on a simple black gown in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to just about every other celebrity you’d spot in workwear, pearls are the ideal jewellery option with western wear. The natural oriental lustre of pearls helps add a dash of sass to your office ensemble without taking too much attention on your jewellery piece.A  broad necklace with small pearls  or a simple piece with large pearls goes really well with a dress or a broad necked blazer, sitting pretty on your neck without taking too much attention. If it’s a shirt & skirt combination that you’re looking to accessorize, pearls earrings and a simple pearl bracelet are great choices too.

2. Party Bling Ring!

If you’re looking to ditch those boring selfies for some really cool ones, gemstone studded rings are what you need. Large stones studded in rings are the latest trend while two finger rings that combine a large and a small gemstone are quite popular too. While rubies and emeralds are the most popular stones for rings, you can always opt for  sapphires  or amethysts that go with that favourite dress!

3. Ruby up that cocktail reception!

While the wedding day is for the bride and groom to shine, sangeet functions and cocktail receptions are THE events to get your wedding wear game ON, and it’s time to go all out on accessorizing as well.  Rubies are the most popular for studded jewellery for a sangeet / cocktail reception  since most ethnic or fusion looks are on the brighter side. For accessorizing with ethnic wear, a ruby studded choker or a statement necklace works wonderfully well, while gemstone bracelets and large studded earrings add some sass to fusion wear. While rubies are most popular for such occasions, styling works better with emeralds or sapphires if the theme is based around more pastel shades.

4. Go Caj with gemstones!

The trend of going casual is a big hit these days and jewellery that goes with a casual look needs to be equally easy on the eye.  Long chain necklaces  with a single large gemstone are perhaps the most common accessory for a casual outing, or even for a work dinner where you don’t have to be super formal. If you want to keep things even simpler, chunky gemstone bracelets and subtle  pendants  are ideal jewellery options if you’re out for a drink with friends or a laid-back dinner outing.A gemstone studded collared necklace also works very well with jumpsuits that are quite in trend this year and from red carpets to office parties, they have been worn with quite style this year.
