Adding to the list of advancements in the online payment space in India, the ‘Scan and Pay’ feature of Airtel Payments Bank UPI is an important feature you must know about.
What is Scan and Pay feature all about?
You are probably aware of QR or Quick Response Code, which is almost like a bar code that quickly transfers information from one source to another. Airtel Payments Bank UPI, or Unified Payments Interface, uses this technology to simplify payments and money transfer. The next time you are out shopping, or doing grocery or for a coffee, use Scan and Pay.
How ‘Scan and Pay’ is a Win-Win situation for merchants as well as for users
- Merchants can accept digital payments using QR Code. They can completely do away with the Point of Sale (PoS) swiping machine needed for debit and credit cards.
- It will also enable customers to just use their smartphone and make payment by scanning the QR Code
- Customers can pay from any bank account using this one app, they need not download different apps for all their accounts in different banks or specific digital wallets
Where ‘Scan and Pay’ feature comes handy
- The scan and pay feature under the UPI allows you to transfer money online as well as offline. You can pay at restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, movie theatres, gift shops and even for cabs using just your smartphone
How does it work?
- Download the My Airtel App
- Tap on the Payments Bank tab
- Click on the UPI icon under “Quick Actions” on Home screen
- Tap on Scan QR Code or Scan & Pay and scan the code that is displayed by the merchant
- Once it's done, enter the amount that you need to pay, then add a description
- Enter your mPIN
In these simple steps, money gets transferred to the merchant’s bank account. It’s as easy as it sounds! In addition, Airtel Payments Bank UPI also allows you to get a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) or UPI ID- which merchants can get too- in the form of name@airtel or cellnumber@airtel etc. Yet another feature that makes truly instant payments and transfers possible with Airtel Payments Bank UPI.
