Innovation in education and how Acharya Bangalore B-School is contributing its share

From a center dedicated to research and development (ABBS Center for Research and Development) to a digital library, a bi-annual student journal (ABBS STEMME) to a club that focuses on enhancing leadership and communication skills among students (ABBS Toastmasters Club), at Acharya Bangalore B-School (ABBS), we use innovative teaching methods to better serve the students and teach them about the benefits of innovative thinking. This in turn ignites a passion for learning and provides students with the tools they need to succeed in the innovation economy. We believe that innovation in education means doing what’s best for the students. ABBS also provides Case Studies, Role-plays, Simulation, Investment lab, Industrial Profiling, and presentation to ensure the best curriculum experience. In order to focus more on Industry-Institute interaction, ABBS has also designed additional programs. Guest lectures from industry icons, industrial visits and augmentation in niche areas of management are also organized on regular intervals.

In today’s economy, innovation in education is important for developing the next generation of innovators and creative thinkers. The Acharya Bangalore B-School understands that innovation in the education vertical is crucial, as we want all our students to love learning. When we use innovative teaching methods to better serve students and teach them about the benefits of innovative thinking, it does so much more than just “fill the pail.” It ignites a passion for learning and provides students with the tools they need to succeed in the innovation economy. But what does innovation in education mean to you? At ABBS, we believe that innovation in education means doing what’s best for all students.

Let's take a look at some of the ways the Acharya Bangalore B-School is contributing its share.

ABBS Center for Research and Development (ACRD)

In order to meet the challenges of the emerging markets and to make the most of the new opportunities, all efforts need to be directed towards research, which will help create a new breed of managers and development professionals equipped with the appropriate knowledge to acquire new skills, a vision and the confidence to face the unknown.

Anticipating the potential unleashed by the globalization and the future demand for personnel, the ABBS Center for Research and Development (ACRD), Bangalore was established. The Centre envisages an educational mission of inter-disciplinary nature by networking the knowledge, efforts and expertise available in the fields of various management disciplines for providing the best technical advice to business executives, policy-makers, planners and researchers. The aim of this centre is to help management interns, scholars and teachers in achieving higher education in management through a holistic approach of education, training, strategic planning, teaching and research with human and ethical values.

Digital Library

The digital library at ABBS provides comprehensive business knowledge and reliable industry updates. It has been created using "Dspace" (Digital Library Software) to collect, preserve and distribute the digital resources amongst the students and staff. This is an important tool to facilitate scholarly communication and preserve the institutions' knowledge. The Digital Library contains: ABBS Newsletter, AMBER e-Journal, faculty publications, theses and dissertations, e-books, e-journals, projects, question papers, syllabus, free e-journal packages etc. with respect to scholarly communication.

ABBS STEMME

'ABBS STEMME' is a bi-annual student journal which is published in January and June of every year. This journal provides a platform for management students to contribute to the body of knowledge. It is an exclusive, distinct and unique opportunity for the Management students, where they can publish empirical articles, case studies, profile studies, articles on application of management theory and framework in an actual industrial situation. The Faculty members extend necessary help to the students in mentoring and advising in writing and publishing the articles. This enables the faculty members to start preparing for their Ph.D. and such other higher research pursuits. This journal contains all the necessary ISSN and will have the total recognition of authentic and well-recognized Journal.

ABBS Toastmasters Club

While academic grades are imperative for job applications and career success, many employers look for well-rounded candidates with demonstrated participation in extra-curricular activities. Keeping this in mind, the Acharya Bangalore B-School started the ABBS Toastmasters Club. Its main objective is to enhance leadership and communication skills among students which gives them the competitive edge to work in the high volatile market. ABBS Toastmaster club adopts the 'learning by doing' model that sharpens the intellectual, emotional and sensible skills of students. ABBS TM has been a platform of opportunities for the students where they harness leadership, PR, and communication skills. It is a matter of great pride to record that all the outgoing TM members were placed in prestigious companies in the first round of placement on campus.

ABBS understands that a great post graduate program in management is a blend of concepts and practice. Hence, the Bangalore university curriculum of MBA, has been blended with both theory and practice. The practical aspect is imbibed to students through a month’s internship program after second semester of MBA, and 2 months’ dissertation after 3rd Semester. This gives enough exposure to students to the corporate world. Besides that, ABBS also provides Case Studies, Role-plays, Simulation, Investment lab, Industrial Profiling, and presentation to ensure the best curriculum experience. In order to focus more on Industry-Institute interaction, ABBS has also designed additional programs. Guest lectures from industry icons, industrial visits and augmentation in niche areas of management are organized on regular intervals. Retail management, Supply chain management, IT for Managers, Digital Marketing are few of the programs launched in this direction. Also, certificate programs in SAP, Digital marketing, GST, Stock Market, business analytics, and employability skills are introduced by the institution.
