• Inspiring stories have always interested Reese, and setting him off on trips looking for the stories behind the people. The trigger could be a book, a film or any interesting nugget of information that fascinates him. After watching the film Ennu Ninte Moideen, he went to Mukkam, near Calicut, to meet Kanchanamala. The film is based on the love story of Moideen and Kanchanamala, which is something of a modern legend in Kerala.
  • Similarly Reese went to meet Malayalam writer Kottayam Pushpanath before his death, because he is a fan, “It is through those books that I got into the habit of reading,” he says. The Vaikom Mohamed Basheer fan has gone to Thalayolaprambu, near Kottayam, where Basheer lived several times and once to Beypore, in Calicut, where the writer spent his later life. Reese has been corresponding with writer Paulo Coelho since he was in school.
