Author Savi Sharma says her mission is to inspire millions, through her stories. She sticks to this premise in the sequel to her debut novel Everyone Has A Story .
The sequel, titled Everyone Has A Story-2 , follows the story of her characters Meera, Vivaan, Kabir, and Nisha, and what happens after they achieve the goals they set in the first book.
“This is a story about facing life’s trials, how you deal with them, and have the courage to take a stand. Once you get to the lowest point, you need to keep fighting, only then you can start a new chapter in your life, a better chapter. You need to believe in yourself and keep going.”
Faith, is one of the concepts that Savi explores in this sequel. “I feel faith is something that is always there despite challenges. It comes into our lives during different challenges, when fate takes you from the highest point to the lowest point. I have seen such challenges in my life and in the lives of people around me. Happily ever after only exists in books. Life changes…,” she explains.
“I wanted to test faith and see what challenges it could throw at my characters, how they would deal with it and with life’s trials.”
The reason she does this, says Savi, is because of her mission. “Whatever I am writing, I work to ensure that it inspires people to face challenges, gain some courage to follow their dreams. I take on issues which people today, the youth, in particular, face in their lives.”
Savi hopes that her stories would offer her readers solutions through the experiences shared. “I try to write stories that are realistic, about realistic characters,” says the 25-year old author whose tryst with writing began as a primary school student, with poetry.
“I used to take part in competitions related to writing, and speaking. Since childhood, I knew I wanted to write, I just didn’t know in what way. I started reading while waiting for the exam results after the first year of my CA preparations. I finished over 12 books in 10 days. That’s when I realised I wanted to write a novel and that was what I really wanted to do.”
Her debut novel was initially self-published, before Westland picked it up. “I didn’t want to wait for publishers’ responses before I reached out. That is why I decided to self-publish my first book. By the time it was out, it had reached the top of the bestseller list on Amazon, in the Indian writing and fiction category.”
Her books, including her debut Everyone Has A Story , and This Is Not Your Story , she says, inspired her to change certain things about herself. “I felt that if it can inspire me, it can inspire others as well. I was quite indecisive earlier. While writing, and thinking about my characters and how they would react in a given situation, I learnt to be a better person. The courage that my characters showed while facing challenges, inspired me to become more powerful, more courageous, take better decisions.”
