Giving children’s literature the attention it deserves

The second edition of the Neev Literature Festival focusses not just on children, but also parents and adult educators, attempting to make literacy and reading a holistic and lifelong experience. This year’s edition also launches the festival’s annual book award, with a citation and cash prize of ₹1,00,000 for the winners in three categories — picture books, young readers and young adults. A nine-person jury, consisting of educators, writers and three librarians, shortlisted 22 books from a longlist of 94 entries.

Read on to know more about the festival and why its organisers believe it is the first of its kind in India.
