Justice Grover stabbed in Supreme Court

Mr. Justice A.N. Grover of the Supreme Court was to-day [March 13, New Delhi] attacked with a knife by a man and injured on the right side of his head while dealing with a case in the Court. The Judge, who was removed to Wellingdon hospital, is stated to be progressing satisfactorily. The shocking incident took place at about 2-35 p.m. when Mr. Justice Grover was sitting on the Bench along with the Chief Justice Mr. Justice Hidayatullah and Mr. Justice Vaidyalingam. The alleged assailant Manmohan Das was taken into custody by the Police. He is stated to be a “half mad-man” belonging to Mushirabad district (in West Bengal). A team of local top Police officials headed by Mr. S. Tandon, Deputy Inspector-General of Police and, Messrs. M.D. Dittia and Markandeysingh, Superintendents of Police, are conducting the investigations.
