From the Archives: Lucknow Political Murder Appeal

The Judicial Commissioners delivered judgment yesterday [September 18] in what is known as the Lucknow political conspiracy murder appeal. The judgment is an extremely lengthy one in the course of which the learned Judges held that the statement of Shankerlal was true. There was no doubt in their minds that Sushil Chandra Lahiri, accused, and Nipendra, the absconder, were determined upon to get Ram Pershad out of the clutches of Vanyak Ram (the accused) and Tejendra Ghosh, as was obvious from the question put by Lahiri on meeting Ram Pershad at the Mulviganj house. The question was “Is Bura Babu with you? If he was we would have shot you.”
