A wireless message issued from Budapest in French on Saturday night [November 2] addressed to the people of the world states that the Hungarian people who have accomplished a peaceful revolution have shuttered the yoke of their oppressors and have established an independent state. The Note repudiates responsibility for the world war of the Hungarian people who are laying down their arms desiring peace and declaring the fraternity and equality of all inhabitants, Magyar and non-Magyar alike. An appeal is made to the free nations of the world to preserve the territorial integrity of Hungary. A message from Budapest states that Karolyi speaking in the town hall said that the King had consented to release the Government from its oath. The Government and National Council had unanimously resolved that Government should ascertain without delay whether the Hungarians were in favour of retention of the monarchy or the establishment of a republic.
