After-War Employment

With a view to improving the prospects of men returning from the war in obtaining employment in Government service, Government have issued orders to the following effect: In applying the age limit prescribed by the civil service regulations for admission into Government service, heads of departments shall exclude from candidates’ age any period during which he was actually serving in the combatants’ ranks of the army. All combatants in Government services on pay not exceeding Rs. 15 per mensem from now onwards and for the period of the war should only be filled up temporarily so that man returning from the war may have a chance of getting such appointments. Men who now enlist in the combatant ranks may put in an application through the Commanding Officer to the heads of departments of Government service in which they would like to get an appointment on their return. A register is to be kept open on applications and the claims of registered applicants, if otherwise qualified and suitable, should be given preference to those of the men temporarily appointed.
