The scheme for increasing the pay of the Indian army promised at the Delhi Conference last April reached London when the War Cabinet was deeply engaged in connection with German offensive in France, but has now been sanctioned. It takes the form of substantial additional gratuity and war bonus for the period of war. It gives combatant ranks (over and above the existing fifty rupees enrolment bonus) an additional gratuity of fifteen rupees on completion of recruiting training and also war bonus varying from 20, 24 to 60 rupees according to the rank for every six months of completed service.
