Mr. Syed Hasan Imam, president-elect of the special session of the Indian National Congress, arrived here [Bombay] this afternoon [August 26] and was given an enthusiastic reception at the station. Alighting from the train Mr. Imam was received by the members of the Reception Committee headed by the Hon’ble Mr. V.J. Patel, chairman. A guard of honour was provided by the Congress volunteers numbering about 200. The President was then garlanded and taken in procession through important thoroughfares where large crowds including ladies had gathered to welcome the President. The processional route was decorated with flags and festoons and the shopkeepers along the route had decorated their shops.
