From the Archives: Scarcity of Water in the Cauvery

The following Press Communique has been issued by the Government of Mysore: It is noticed that, during the last few weeks, certain letters have appeared in the Madras Press creating an impression that the shortage of water supply in the Cauvery River in the Trichinopoly and the Tanjore Districts was in some way due to the construction of the Krishnaraja Sagara Dam at Kannambadi in the Mysore State. 2. The true cause of the shortage complained of is the almost complete failure of the South West Monsoon in the months of June and July.
