Nation mourns Shastri

The body of the late Prime Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, who passed away at Tashkent at 1.32 am was flown here [New Delhi] this afternoon [Jan. 11] in a special Soviet Ilyushin-18 and was received by the President, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the Vice-President, Dr. Zakir Hussain, the Prime Minister, Mr. Gulzari Lal Nanda and his Cabinet colleagues. Moe than a million grief-stricken people present at Palam and lining the 12-mile route from the city to the airport paid homage to Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri. Earlier at Tashkent a million people paid a solemn homage to Mr. Shastri as the body was flown to India.
