The 3rd November, 1917, was fixed for the distribution of rewards to those officers and non-officials who helped in the detection and prevention of crimes in this place. In the evening there was a large gathering of people rich and poor in the premises of the Gopichettipalayam police station compound which was beautifully decorated with evergreens, etc., with a temporary pandal in front of the station. Mr. F.A. Hamilton, the District Superintendent of Police, and Mr. Khan Bhahadur Aminudeen, Sahib Bhahadur, Deputy Superintendent of Police, arrived exactly at 4 P.M. in a motor car accompanied by Mr. C.K. Ramasami Gownder, Taluk Board Vice-President, when the function began with a welcome song. Rewards about Rs. 1,000 in value were distributed to Police officials, village officers, and also to other non-officials including Koravars, Poriahs, etc., who assisted in detecting and preventing crimes. This is a novel method which will of course help in probing the truths of the criminal cases. The District Superintendent of Police then spoke for about 20 minutes regarding the efficiency in certain respects of the Police administration in India when compared with that of England and asked for the co-operation of the public in detecting and preventing crimes. Mr. S.P. Krishna Ayyar, a local vakil, spoke in Tamil and advised the people to co-operate with the police and then Mr. C.K. Ramasami Gownder before proposing a vote of thanks said that it is the duty of every citizen to co-operate with the police. He also said that as Gopichettipalayam is the chief centre of gambling which can otherwise be termed as a daylight dacoity, the police may take effective steps to check this vice in consultation with the magistracy.

Afterwards he proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the Police Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent and the Police Inspector.

The function closed with a display of the fireworks.
