All India Musical Conference.

The Second All-India Musical Conference will be held at Delhi during the Easter holidays. The first Conference was held in 1916 in Baroda under the patronage of H.H. the Maharaja Gaekwar. The objects of the conference are: (1) good workable uniform Raga system such as would enable us to learn and teach music without difficulty; (2) a good simple uniform notation system for the whole country; (3) a perfectly reliable history of Indian music and musicians; (4) the determination of Shruties and their uses in the Ragas; (5) impressing on the people the educational value of music and the necessity of introducing graded courses in schools and colleges, and (6) a central academy of music where first class music could be taught according to the most up-to-date methods. A Reception Committee consisting of Rai Bahadur Sultan Singh, Nawab Ahmed Saidkhan, Rai Bahadur Ramodardas Thakur Nawab Ali, Mr. Bhatkhandey, Prof. Joshi, Dr. A.C. Sen and others has been formed. Arrangements are being made to approach Indian States to send their state musicians and to invite prominent musicians of India to the Conference.
