The Hindu Young World quiz that was started with an idea to educate, enlighten and entertain young minds is ten years old. The tenth edition saw a whopping 424 teams participating in the preliminary round, which had a fascinating set of questions some of which were related to our everyday lives. For example, what is the Tamil name for coriander leaves?

The contestants found the jumbled words round a bit tough as they answered only one of the questions. The picture of wildebeest image invited a few funny answers from the audience. S. Siddharth and T. Franklin Britto of Mahatma Montessori Matric H.S. School, Baba Building, emerged winners with 70 points. V. Hemalatha and V. Priyadarshini of S.S.V. Sala, Melur, came second and T. Swathik Prasanna and R.M. Rama Krishna of VMJ School came third. M.R. Sai Vignesh and M. Kaleeswaran of SBOA School came fourth, followed by V.S. Nishok and Naveen Jafer of Lakshmi School. S. Prasanna Ethiraj and P. Madan of SBOA School finished sixth.

The chief guest for the event was dialogue writer Crazy Mohan who encouraged students to read a lot and develop an interest in hobbies.
