Super singers

NIVEDITA N.

Confident, these kids take the stage by storm.

Winners all: At the show

They’re a whiff of fresh air and they are our “apne bache”. The latest serials and talent shows are testimony to their presence on the small screen. From the chirpy little girls in ‘Uttaran’ on Colors to the “Chota Laughter Challenge”, children have done it all.

Back home “Padalani Undi”, a singing show for kids hosted by Bala Subramaniam on Maa TV found young talent take centre stage some time ago. And now, “Idea Super Singers 3”, a talent show where children compete in three categories: juniors, seniors and folk singers. The finals of the show will be held in the U.S.

Composing songs

“We try to bring out the best in children by building their confidence,” says Narashimha, director of Idea Super Singers 3. Madhu Priya, a Std. VII student of St Augustine High School, is set to release an audio cassette of her own songs on the impoverished conditions she has lived in. She sings folk ballads. Her recent song is on womanhood.

“During school we shoot on weekends and during exams the management allows us to write the exams as per our flexibility. However the term examinations must be written at the right time, the unit tests are taken care of,” says Suma Sree, the winner of a music show.
