Though Independence Day was celebrated in different ways, the feeling of patriotism that ran through them was the same.

Colours of freedom: At a cultural event
The spirit of patriotism, zeal and national fervour were evident at the 61st Independence Day celebrations in schools. Children presented patriotic songs and also danced to the tunes of Bollywood numbers on patriotism. They shared their thoughts on how to make the country proud. At Parachute Regiment School, Col. B. S. Latwal, Trg Bn Cdr, Parachute Regiment Training Centre, unfurled the Tricolor and received the salute. The school choir presented “Jai Jan Bharat̶
1; which evoked a patriotic spirit. The chief guest addressed the students and reiterated that it is the youth who have to strive hard to represent the nation in every sphere and bring honour and glory to it.
Spirit of freedom
Students of National Public School, Koramangala, celebrated Independence Day in the school precincts. The assembly focussed on the spirit of freedom as they sang patriotic songs “saare jahan se achcha,”
”nanha munna rahi,”
“yeh desh
hai veer jawano ka” to name a few. The bulletin boards looked impressive with various displays. In the section on craft work, the Indian Tricolor was predominant. The staff were also dressed to suit the occasion and the slogan “bharat mata ki jai” by the students was resounding.
The students of Ryan International School celebrated Independence Day with a programme that included patriotic songs, dances and speeches.
The chief guest Lt. Col Nilesh Karia, unfurled the Tricolor. This was followed by a march-past by the school children. The Colonel took the salute. A skit on the contemporary problem of terrorism was staged by the students. Pastor Daniel prayed for the wellbeing of the country, which was followed by inspiring words from the colonel and the guest of honour, Rev. Fr. Joseph Thannickal.
Toppers were conferred with certificates and prizes.
The celebration came to an end with a sapling planting programme.
