Can you add 24+45-20+31-10+75. It took just 20 seconds for K. Bharathi to answer-144. Welcome to the world of Mind Abacus, where calculations of all types, additions, multiplications, subtractions and divisions are done in a jiffy and with accuracy.
Improvement
“We have over 250 children in the special summer classes here. Students from Stds. I to IX are eligible for the Abacus classes. Learning the Abacus way of doing sums will improve their concentration, memory and speed,” says Ed-Abacus Mind Maths institute centre head N. Prema Latha. She says that the calculations with numbers below 100 can be done by using fingers in under a minute.
“The concept is centred on Brain Gym. The left side of the brain is used for logical thinking.
Training is given to manipulate the virtual image on the right side of the brain, enhancing the mental ability, intuitive thinking and enhances problem solving ability,” she says.
Similar courses are being taught at Kanna English Medium School in Arundelpet. The course promises a positive mental attitude, increased self confidence and effective communication.
