On a high: Parasailing

Have you ever wished to fly high, drifting with the wind and looking down on the earth from the skies above? For all those wishing for the adrenalin highs, here’s some good news. Adventure Zone in association with the Forest Department has started the aerial sport of parasailing at Sagarnagar beachfront. The team of Adventure Zone has already started the parasailing activities in the area to mark the routes and to observe the wind patterns. The team is geared with al l the equipment.

On tops

And how does it feel to be high on top? Ask Jestin of Adventure Zone. “It’s a terrific sport that gives you a high and also helps you overcome your fears,” he says. This is an adventure sport that blends the exhilaration of flying, parachuting and sailing into a single experience. Soaring high on a parachute, grasping the rope towed behind a jeep, with the inch thick rope the only thing between the man airborne and the ground below, challenging the forces of wind and the buildings dwarfed below you, is simply an unforgettable experience.

“There are several factors to be kept in mind while going for parasailing. A minimum wind speed is required without which the parachute won’t take off,” says Jestin. He recalls how on one of the trial runs when the wind speed was high, it took nearly 45 minutes for the person to come down. Also, parasailing is suitable for persons only above 40 kg weight. The rope attached to the jeep will be 80 metres long that will take you to a height of 50 metres from the land.

“This will be a daily activity on the beachfront. We want to popularise the sport and then bring in many other adventure sports activities in the city,” he says. Adventure Zone is also conducting other adventure sports activities like rock climbing and river crossing at Kambalakonda Eco-Tourism Park.
