Elgi Matric H.S. School, Vellalore
Students from Elgi Matric H.S. School, Vellalore, were winners all the way at the 16th annual district level basket ball tournament. The tournament organised by Coimbatore District Sports and Games Welfare Association at CSI Bishop Appasamy College Basket Ball courts saw the participation of more than 150 students from 12 schools. The students of Elgi School won titles in boys category (under-14 years), girls high school and girls higher secondary school categories.
In the high school category, the girls from Elgi School won the Suguna G Ramasamy Rolling trophy and in the higher secondary school category, the students got the Dr.MGR Rolling trophy. In the boys’ section, they won the Lakshmi Ceramics Rolling trophy. The tournament was sponsored by various Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore.
In the under-14 boys section, Gowtham of Elgi School scored 14 points. In the high school category for girls, Nithya from the same school scored 16 points. Anushya and Rashmi in higher secondary section scored 36 points and paved way for winning the rolling trophy. More than 100 medals (gold , silver and bronze) and certificates were given away to the winners.
