T. Thesingh and V. Visvendran, both Std. X students of Khajamian H.S. School and residing in Tiruchi Sports Hostel bagged the second and third places respectively at the Perambalur Mini Marathon in the boys’ under-15 age category.
The mini marathon was organised by the Perambalur District Athletic Association under the auspices of Tamil Nadu Athletic Association.
Thesingh and Visvendran covered a distance of five kilometres in the event.
They competed with more than 2,000 participants from across the State.
The youngsters, who are trained by O. Gnanasuganthi at Tiruchi Sports Hostel, have participated in marathons conducted at various levels.
Perseverance
“Both work hard and have the desire to achieve. Podium finish at the mini marathon has given them the much-needed confidence,” says the coach.
“We gave our best and consider the race as a good learning experience,” say the duo.
School correspondent A.S. Ansar, headmaster M.I. Mohammed Ali and Sports Hostel warden P. Kalaiselvan commended the youngsters.
