Public hearing on EIA on June 29
Spadework to bring to fruition Kerala’s “dream project,” the Vizhinjam International Seaport, entered a new stage on Thursday with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy releasing its master plan and detailed project report (DPR).
Mr. Chandy said the government expected the project to fully fall into the grove, winning environmental clearance also, within the next five months.
Everything was being done according to a definite time schedule. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was now before the State Pollution Control Board, which had announced the conduct of a public hearing on June 29. Within one month from that date, the State would approach the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) for environmental clearance.
