The dominant force in women’s skeet in the country, Arti Singh and Saniya Sheikh, took different routes to the same score of 64 out of 75 in the shotgun World Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus, on Saturday.

While Arti shot a steady series of 23, 21 and 20 to be placed 29th in a field of 47 shooters, the young Saniya started strongly with a perfect round of 25 but slipped dramatically to 21 and 18 thereafter, to be placed 30th.

Danka Bartekova of Slovakia and Andri Eleftheriou of Cyprus topped the qualifiers with World Record equalling score of 73, while 71 was the last score to make the final.

In men’s skeet, Arozepal Sandhu had rounds of 25 and 24 to be 12th in a field of 85, while Parampal Singh Guron grappled with rounds of 24 and 22, whereas Smit Singh struggled with 20 and 22. There will be three more rounds for the men followed by the final on Sunday.
