The Regional Sports Centre's Vysakh Ravi and Gayatri Girish won the men's and women's singles titles in the Ernakulam District table tennis championship at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium here.

University in final

University College, Thiruvananthapuram will meet Government College, Payyannur in the final of the SAI-LNCPE all-India inter-collegiate football tournament.

In the semifinals played at the LNCPE ground Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, University College defeated LNCPE 2-0. Sajan (43rd) and Badhusha (52nd) scored the goals for the winner.

In the second semifinal, Government College, Payyannur defeated Zomarin's Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode 6-5 on penalties.

Both teams were locked 1-1 at regular time. Aasif put Payyannur ahead in the 35th minute but Jithin Raj equalised for Zomarin's in the 68th minute.

In the shootout, Jiyacl, Bibin, Aasif, Jalal and Pranesh scored for Payyannur while Jerin Krishna, Abdul Kabeer, Muhammed Musthafa and Akhil Lal converted their kicks for Zomarin's.

Girideepam triumphs

At Kottayam, host Girideepam Bethany won a double in the 25th Girideepam all-India basketball tournament at the Girideepam Bethany floodlit court on Monday.

Girideepam won the title in senior boys' and under-13 boys' categories while Little Flower Koratty won the girls' title.

Girideepam overcame Sacred Heart HSS (Thevara) 69-63 in the senior boys' final. Raju Chacko (22), Savin Paul (12) and Jerry (10) were the prominent scorers for the winner. For Sacred Heart HSS, Tony Xavier (32) was the top-scorer.

Girideepam defeated Kristhu Jyothi 39-24 in the under-13 final. In the girls' final, Little Flower had no difficulty in beating Providence GHS (Kozhikode) 43-24.
