CHANDIGARH: Vivek Shokeen announced his return to the circuit with a hard-fought 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-3 win over the seventh-seeded Syrym Abdukhalikov of Kazakhstan in the first round of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament here on Tuesday.
Vivek had been grappling with a wrist injury and this is his first match since last April when he made the quarterfinals of a similar tournament. In another lively match Rohan Gajjar showed the door to the eighth-seeded Sheeva Prabhu of USA 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5) to set up a pre-quarterfinal clash against P.C. Vignesh.
